10月26日的升旗仪式上，我校“周一说英语”活动正式启动。启动仪式上，小学生代表钟仲青同学、初中生代表陈嘉辉同学、国际部代表林昱辰同学、英语教师代表曹林、外教代表Joni、副校长方建军呼吁全校师生，尽可能地在公众场合使用英语交流，创建良好的校园英语氛围。 

“周一说英语”自去年开展以来，作为我校特色活动之一，不仅提高了同学们说英语的积极性，更是丰富了同学们口语实践的平台。在英语教研组的组织下，国际部和初中部此次共推选出110名“校园英语大使”，这些“大使”将通过参与活动，发挥榜样力量，积极带动同学们说英语的热情。此外，学校也能通过这些“大使”，更好地聆听学生的反馈意见，不断完善活动方案。

启动仪式上，副校长叶和丽宣布了110名“校园英语大使”的名单，并为他们颁发聘书。

小学生代表钟仲青同学介绍说，自己以“周一说英语”活动为契机，每天练习，多听多读，很快英语成绩就有了提高，并且交到了更多朋友，去年还在“广外杯”英语技能大赛中赢得了最佳表演奖。

初中生代表陈嘉辉同学讲述了自己学习英语的心路历程，从厌倦到热爱，他认为英语不是一门功课那么简单，而是一把让自己见识广博世界的钥匙。陈嘉辉还介绍了学习英语的技巧，就是要多听多读多说，而“周一说英语”活动给了同学们实践口语的绝佳机会。

国际部代表林昱辰同学表示，校园英语大使的职责就是要更好地帮助同学们说英语，他希望大使们能认真履行职责，积极准备，耐心对待，共同进步。

英语教师代表曹林的发言主题为“学习态度决定了你未来的人生高度”，她指出，学习英语不仅仅是为了应付考试，英语如今已经成为了联结世界与中国的纽带，学习英语，更重要的是了解英语文化的内涵，学习西方文明的精华。

外教代表Joni认为，去年“周一说英语”活动开展得十分成功，她相信今年活动上选拔出的“校园英语大使”将作为老师的小助手，推动活动更好地完成。同时，她也希望同学们能在参与活动时保持礼貌耐心，老师们也将尽可能地利用课余时间帮助同学们提高口语。

副校长方建军在讲话中首先介绍了今年“周一说英语活动”的两大创新，一是引入了110名校园英语大使，赋予了他们签名打卡的权利，协助老师们完成工作，二是今后师生之间的对话，每周将围绕3-5个话题展开，使讨论内容更有针对性。方建军表示，在今天的中国，英语的重要性已经远远超过了它作为交际工具的本身，英语已经成为我们生活的一部分。人类用语言来交流和思考，但英语无疑是世界上最重要的国际交流语言。方建军倡议学生们，如果想更好地了解世界，更好地学习专业知识，应该首先学习英语，可以说，有了更好的英语，才会看到更广阔的世界，拥有更好的生活。

我校校长万清华最后宣布活动正式启动。

我校“周一说英语”活动其实并不仅仅要求学生们在周一说英语，而是旨在让学生们随时随地开口说英语。参与活动的学生每人拥有一张签名卡，学生们可以在每天的工作时间内，找到学校里任何英语教师或“校园英语大使”交流，并请老师为自己的签名卡“打卡”。作为回报，得到签名的学生将在他们的期末英语成绩上获得一些额外的奖励分数，而奖励分数取决于学生收集的签名数。

    Good morning, dear colleagues, boys and girls,
    Today we are here witnessing the third opening ceremony of Speaking English on Monday. Based on the previous two semesters’ success, we introduced some new acts in our Speaking English on Monday from this semester to enrich this campaign. The major innovations are:
    First, we increased our English supervisors’ team by authorizing 110 top students as “Campus English Ambassador”. Together with over 120 Chinese English teachers, nearly 40 foreign teachers, there will be over 270 authorized persons on this campus who can sign the cards and serve Speaking English on Monday.
    Secondly, this semester’s Speaking English on Monday will be more guided. i.e., all conversations each week should be around each unit’s theme of students’ English textbooks. Your Chinese English teachers will inform you and all the 270 English supervisors of 3-5 conversation topics for the week.
    Why do we keep pushing Speaking English on Monday on our campus? The answer is simple: we are creating an English-friendly campus to help you learn English. As it is known to all, in today’s China, the importance of English has gone far beyond a foreign language, a communicative tool, English has become part of our life. Speaking English, driving and computer skills have been acknowledged as the basic abilities that should be acquired by modern educated Chinese.
    Globalization and information age have made the importance of English more prominent. To some extend, English to the world has become mandarin to the Chinese. Thus if you are keen on travelling, communicating with people of other nationalities, Speaking English can bridge you fulfilling your goals.
    However, China still lacks a good environment of using English because English is a taught foreign language and speaking English has been confined to classroom only in most parts of China. The low efficiency of learning English could be partially attributed to such fact. Therefore, in order to improve both English teaching and studying, we need to create more opportunities for our students to speak and use English.
    Human beings use a language to communicate and to think. Undoubtedly English has so far been the most important worldwide language for international communication. If you want to know the world better, if you want to study your major better, you should first study your English better. All in all, we could say, “Better English, better life”, “Better English, a wider world”!
