Look back on the past look forward to the future

Good morning, my dear teachers and fellow students. I’m He Zijun from Class3 Senior1. The topic of my speech today is ‘look back on the past look forward to the future’.
Li Jiacheng once said ‘Living without goals is just like sailing in a boundless sea without a compass. Have you ever thought of your dreams or goals while you were paying for your past? Hove you spared some time working hard for tomorrow?
Two days ago, students from Senior 3graduated from high school through Gaokao. Those students cultivated themselves for 12 years to make them comprehensive and outstanding. As for the coming exams, what can we do to get higher grades? The following gives us some suggestions.
First of all, we should make plans everyday. Following the plans can make us do thing much more efficiently.
Secondly, we should review our work everyday in order to strengthen the memories.
Also, it’s essential to believe in yourselves and build up your confidence.
Lost but not least, spare some time for having a real dream but not a fancy dream. For that, you must try hard to figure out what you really want? What you truly want to accomplish? May be you can start with asking yourselves what’s the goals for this term?
Where there’s a will there’s a way. We must make great effort to fulfill our dreams because we are only young once. Thank you!

A speech about Thomas Transtromer
万星月

Good morning teachers and students!
Speaking of the Nobel Prize for literature, Mo Yan must be the first one to come to our mind. However, today, what I’m going to talk about is a winner before Mo Yan-----Thomas Transtromer.
Resorting to his intense and brief poetry-----17 dikter, he was awarded for he took the reader to face the reality with brief images and brand new insight. He was honoured as the greatest symbolistic and realistic poet in contemporary Europe. He started from daily life, combined subjects and science into his poems and showed his most exquisite emotions with peaceful words. When reading 17 dikter, I seem to be under the clear sky in north Europe. It’s like there’s an angel living in his pen point.
Images are the most unique of his poems. When reading ‘I hear the stone I threw away falling/it goes through the age clearly as glass.’ I feel like passing through the redbud forest in March on a horse. He’s a poet who lives and writes by heart. He feels the life, touch the life and discover the life all with his poems. As a Germany radio station commented ‘His poems are filled with flavor, color, vibration and noise.’
Thomas’s words are warm as a huge beam of light, which lights up every corner of the world and washes away the evils inside readers’ heart. They are both sane and sensitive. The beauty of his imagination is based on reality, which expresses his truest feelings with abstract words, which are not the bricks of technology but the container for spirit.
His poems are normal but novel, abstract but practical. The most charming of them is novelty. He keeps innovating and giving up something old, even things he’s good at. He thinks the process of a poet creating should be a process of getting rid of the past. You gain, after you let go.
It is the same with our life. Our growth should be a process of letting go our past. If we don’t and spin in memories, we will be abandoned by the world eventually. So why don’t we get starting, setting our feet on the road we light up by ourselves?
  Thanks for you listening!
