On December 23rd, the Sino-Canadian program held its Christmas party, the third one ever since the program was founded. Everybody in the program would like to cherish this moment when students from all three grades can work together to create something that incorporated all different elements of different ages. It was getting much better this year. As organizers of each of these parties, we students were bound to be proud of our effort we have given into all these and their improving quality, taking a unique angle to recall this year’s unforgettable Christmas party.

The first thing one could see after walking into the drama classroom was all the Christmas bonnets and pretty stockings everyone was wearing and carrying. Not only were these accessories available free to every student, but also were all kinds of food, including chocolate cookies, potato chips, mellows and so on. After one grabbed a seat, we heard this familiar song of Christmas and here came the drama personnel from Grade 10. All of a sudden, somebody in green carrying a bag came to the spotlight. It was the wicked man, known as a jealous person in the beginning trying to take away everyone’s Christmas presents, from one of the most well-known cartoons we watched last year. That student impersonated the character well, accompanied by the innocence of “children”, acted out by a bunch of funny students in the class. After the “Jingle Bell” chorale was sung, the play resulted in a happy ending: the wicked man was turned into a kind-hearted neighbor of the village.

The second performance we watched was also Christmas song given by the Grade 11s. To tell the truth as an eyewitness, it was not even as good as the first one, but I think only because the following one was too intoxicating to enable us to remember anything we saw in the past. The leading dancer was a popular teacher, Janna Day who teaches grade 10 students. As usual, she did an outstanding job transforming the music into motion, into all different dazzling footwork. This time, they were doing Justin Beiber song “Mistletoes”. The tune was familiar; the singing by the singer was touching, and the performers were totally into what they were doing.

In the end, it was the present exchanging part. Our principal David Brennick and his wife Diane Brennick spoke through the microphone calling out names written on the present wrappings nestled underneath a Christmas tree. It seemed that everyone was happy about what they got, at least feeling warm about the kind of affection shown by their peers. Someone else decided that they could exchange presents exactly on that Christmas day. Either way, everyone of us got a chance to sit inside a warm, comfortable room to exchange our special Christmas happiness.
